Rotary Racer 10 - Development Plan

General

  1. Get sponsership.
  2. Find old wheel hub.

Research

  1. General looking at other GP cars by everyone for ideas.
  2. VWT: Test idea of lowering the hight of the cars body behind the driver using 3D CAD and VWT. (TP)
  3. VWT: Test raising or lowing front edge of nose code to defect air above or below the car.  (TP)
  4. VWT: Test adding front wheel covers to enclose the front wheels using 3D CAD and VWT. (JM)
  5. VWT: Test car with flat bottom vs curved bottom.
  6. Calculate appoximate forwards/backwards centre of gravity if we place the batteries near the front. Test by doing this with our car and scales. (LB, BS, W).
  7. Play with car design placing things on full sized paper model.
  8. Measure cars dimensions and create a simple 2D cad drawing from top and side. Could use RR9's CAD design and update.
  9. Ideas for rotating lower wheel gap cover.
  10. Rear wheel ackerman steering ability ?
  11. Suspension ?
  12. Look for lighter and easier to fasten 6 point harness.
  13. Find epoxy paint source.

Design

  1. Design basic overal chasis based on RR9, working out parts needed.
  2. Design front steering parts. Front wheels slightly closer together to allow for wheel covers.
  3. Design steering joystik.
  4. Design wheels. 16inch ?, amount of dish ?
  5. Design seat.
  6. Battery holders.

Purchase

  1. Create list of items to purchase based on RR9's parts list.
  2. Purchase parts we could start building with.

Production

  1. Make front steering kingpins and support columns. Length of these can be adjusted later. Needs steel welding.
  2. Make joystick (needs aluminium welding)
  3. Make wheels.
  4. Make Roll-bar and rear axle.

Testing

  1. Test car around tenis courts.
  2. Test car at a race day.

Development

  1. Adjust and improve things.
